Lee (Henry) is born in Boston.

The son of Henry and Frances (LeMoyne) Lee, Henry Lee marries Joan Cabot Metcalf in 1945, graduates from Harvard College and receives a master’s degree from Stanford University. He works for the US State Department in Washington, DC, returns to Boston, and become a private school teacher and administrator. The first and longtime director of the Friends of the Boston Public Garden and Boston Common, he leads the effort to preserve and improve those two parks for more than 40 years. Lee dies in Beverly on August 12, 2024.
